Those attending this event will be more cognizant of the issue of mass incarceration – for those unaware of the crisis, this event should lead to a heightened awareness of an issue seriously impacting our society.

Numerous professionals – with a clear understanding of Americas Criminal Justice System – will provide valuable information and – leave attendees more informed, empowered & motivated to improve the quality of their lives & the lives of others.

The United States has 5% of the world’s population but has 25% of the world’s prisoners. America incarcerates more people per capita than any place on earth, (even more than nations with historically repressive governments like Iran, Russia or China.)  Adult black males in the United States are only 3% of the population but account for 38% of those incarcerated. America’s prison population has quintupled over the past 30 years growing from 350,000 to 2.4 million people. The circumstances that have led us to this crisis are complex & numerous but one thing is certain- THE STATUS QUO IS UNACCEPTABLE! The need for a change in direction is URGENT. This event will highlight numerous problems and will focus on solutions.
